By now many of you know I’m in Australia enjoying a couple of weeks of sunshine and beautiful scenery, and like most people who travel I don’t go anywhere without my mobile, specifically my personal BlackBerry. Besides being able to stay connected and on top of my local appointments and travel arrangements, it lets me make those all important updates to my Facebook status (how else I’m I going to share my recent Koala experience), or Tweet about some cool technical gadget I found or Check in at one of those little touristy spots. Now in the past, I’ve never had a big problem with roaming or at least locating some sort of prepaid option but in Australia I struggled.
Like the majority of folks getting off my flight in the Sydney airport, I proceeded to head towards the mobile booths that had been strategically placed at the departures exit point. Unfortunately I was told pre-paid roaming with BlackBerry was in no way possible and that a contract was necessary. After a bit of thought and consideration about purchasing a “throw away”, I decided to give it think on the way to my hotel. Lucky in chatting with my husband, he came up with an interest option – Crazy John’s. He said, how could it be bad with a name like that? And indeed, he was right – not only were the staff super helpful when I went into the store. I was pre-paid BlackBerry activated within 15 minutes (that’s including register time!). I was very impressed and happy that I didn’t have to go without my email and BBM – not to mention all the social apps.
So in an effort to share my new found knowledge and spread a bit of BlackBerry love, I thought I’d share my experience. So if you find yourself in Sydney and looking for a bit of pre-paid BlackBerry coverage, you might want to check out Crazy John’s.
